waallayli itha saja |

And by the Night when it is still,- |

And [by] the night when it covers with darkness, |

And the night when it covers with darkness. |

By the night when it darkeneth, |

and by the night when it darkens, |

ma waddaAAaka rabbuka wama qala |

Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased. |
Saheeh International |
Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you]. |

Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased, |

Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased. |

your Lord has not forsaken you, nor is He displeased with you, |

|
|
ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂﮃ
Transliteration |
walalakhiratu khayrun laka mina aloola |

Yusuf Ali |
And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present. |
Saheeh International |
And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life]. |
Shakir |
And surely what comes after is better for you than that which has gone before. |

And the Hereafter is indeed better Unto thee than the life present. |

and the Hereafter will indeed be better for you than the present life; |

ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇﮈ
Transliteration |
walasawfa yuAAteeka rabbuka fatarda |

Yusuf Ali |
And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased. |
Saheeh International |
And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied. |
Shakir |
And soon will your Lord give you so that you shall be well pleased. |

And presently thy Lord shall give Unto thee so that thou shalt be be well-pleased. |

soon you will be gratified with what your Lord will give you. |

alam yajidka yateeman faawa |

Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)? |

Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge? |

Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter? |

Found He not thee an orphan, so He sheltered thee? |

Did He not find you orphaned and shelter you? |

wawajadaka dallan fahada |

And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance. |

And He found you lost and guided [you], |

And find you lost (that is, unrecognized by men) and guide (them to you)? |

And He found thee wandering, so He guided thee, |

Did He not find you wandering, and give you guidance? |

Transliteration |
wawajadaka AAailan faaghna |

Yusuf Ali |
And He found thee in need, and made thee independent. |
Saheeh International |
And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient. |

And find you in want and make you to be free from want? |
Daryabadi |
And He found thee destitute, so He enriched thee. |

Did He not find you in want, and make you free from want? |

faamma alyateema fala taqhar |

Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness, |
Saheeh International |
So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him]. |
Shakir |
Therefore, as for the orphan, do not oppress (him). |
Daryabadi |
Wherefore as to the orphan, be thou not Unto him overbearing. |

Therefore do not treat the orphan with harshness, |

ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞﮟ
Transliteration |
waamma alssaila fala tanhar |

Yusuf Ali |
Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard); |
Saheeh International |
And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him]. |

And as for him who asks, do not chide (him), |
Daryabadi |
And as to the beggar, chide thou him not. |

and do not chide the one who asks for help; |

|
|

waamma biniAAmati rabbika fahaddith |

Yusuf Ali |
But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim! |
Saheeh International |
But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it]. |
Shakir |
And as for the favor of your Lord, do announce (it). |
Daryabadi |
And as to the favour of thine Lord discourse thou thereof. |

but proclaim the blessings of your Lord. |
