And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- |

And what can make you know what is the night comer? |

And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is?- |

and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? |

in kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafithun |

There is no soul but has a protector over it. |

There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. |

There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. |

No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. |

[for] no human being has been left unguarded. |

So let man observe from what he was created. |

Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. |

Coming from between the back and the ribs. |

That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. |

issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: |

innahu AAala rajAAihi laqadirun |

Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! |

Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. |

Most surely He is able to return him (to life). |

Verily He is Able to restore him, |

He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. |

yawma tubla alssarairu |

The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, |

The Day when secrets will be put on trial, |

On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, |

On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. |

On the Day when secrets are disclosed, |

fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasirin |

(Man) will have no power, and no helper. |

Then man will have no power or any helper. |

He shall have neither strength nor helper. |

Then he shall have no power nor any helper. |

[man] will have no power, and no helper. |

By the Firmament which returns (in its round), |

By the sky which returns [rain] |

I swear by the raingiving heavens, |

By the heaven which returneth, |

By the heavens, ever-revolving, |

waalardi thati alssadAAi |

And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- |

And [by] the earth which cracks open, |

And the earth splitting (with plants); |

And by the earth which splitteth, |

by the earth cracking open with new growth. |

innahu laqawlun faslun |

Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): |

Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, |

Most surely it is a decisive word, |

Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. |

It is surely a decisive utterance; |

It is not a thing for amusement. |

And it is not amusement. |

And it is no joke. |

And it is not a frivolity. |

and is not to be taken lightly. |

innahum yakeedoona kaydan |

As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, |

Indeed, they are planning a plan, |

Surely they will make a scheme, |

Verily they are plotting a plot. |

waakeedu kaydan |

And I am planning a scheme. |

But I am planning a plan. |

And I (too) will make a scheme. |

And I am plotting a plot. |

famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwaydan |

Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). |
Saheeh International |
So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. |

So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. |

So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, |

so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. |
