    Transliteration

    waalssamai thati alburooji

    Yusuf Ali

    By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs;

    Saheeh International

    By the sky containing great stars

    Shakir

    I swear by the mansions of the stars,

    Daryabadi

    By the heaven adorned with big stars.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    By the sky with its constellations,

    Transliteration

    waalyawmi almawAAoodi

    Yusuf Ali

    By the promised Day (of Judgment);

    Saheeh International

    And [by] the promised Day

    Shakir

    And the promised day,

    Daryabadi

    And by the Day promised,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and by the promised Day,

    Transliteration

    washahidin wamashhoodin

    Yusuf Ali

    By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;-

    Saheeh International

    And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,

    Shakir

    And the bearer of witness and those against whom the witness is borne.

    Daryabadi

    And by the Day witnessing and the Day witnessed,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    by the Witness and the witnessed,

    Transliteration

    qutila ashabu alukhdoodi

    Yusuf Ali

    Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire),

    Saheeh International

    Cursed were the companions of the trench

    Shakir

    Cursed be the makers of the pit,

    Daryabadi

    Perish the fellows of the ditch,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    destroyed were the people of the trench,

    Transliteration

    alnnari thati alwaqoodi

    Yusuf Ali

    Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel:

    Saheeh International

    [Containing] the fire full of fuel,

    Shakir

    Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel,

    Daryabadi

    Of fire fuel-fed,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    the makers of the fuel-stoked fire!

    Transliteration

    ith hum AAalayha quAAoodun

    Yusuf Ali

    Behold! they sat over against the (fire),

    Saheeh International

    When they were sitting near it

    Shakir

    When they sat by it,

    Daryabadi

    When they sat by it

    Wahiduddin Khan

    They sat by it

    • ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭﭮ

    Transliteration

    wahum AAala ma yafAAaloona bialmumineena shuhoodun

    Yusuf Ali

    And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers.

    Saheeh International

    And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.

    Shakir

    And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers.

    Daryabadi

    And to that which they did to the believers were witnesses.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    to watch what they were doing to the believers,

    • ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷﭸ

    Transliteration

    wama naqamoo minhum illa an yuminoo biallahi alAAazeezi alhameedi

    Yusuf Ali

    And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!-

    Saheeh International

    And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,

    Shakir

    And they did not take vengeance on them for aught except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praised,

    Daryabadi

    And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy

    Wahiduddin Khan

    whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy,

    • ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ﭽﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃﮄ

    Transliteration

    allathee lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi waallahu AAala kulli shayin shaheedun

    Yusuf Ali

    Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things.

    Saheeh International

    To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness.

    Shakir

    Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things.

    Daryabadi

    Him, Whose is the dominion of heavens and the earth. And Allah is over everything a Witness.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. God is witness over all things.

    • ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈ ﮉ ﮊ ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒﮓ

    Transliteration

    inna allatheena fatanoo almumineena waalmuminati thumma lam yatooboo falahum AAathabu jahannama walahum AAathabu alhareeqi

    Yusuf Ali

    Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire.

    Saheeh International

    Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.

    Shakir

    Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning.

    Daryabadi

    Verily those who affected the believing men and the believing women, and then repented not, theirs shall be the torment of Hell, and theirs shall be the torment of burning.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning.

    • ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢﮣ

    Transliteration

    inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum jannatun tajree min tahtiha alanharu thalika alfawzu alkabeeru

    Yusuf Ali

    For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires),

    Saheeh International

    Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.

    Shakir

    Surely (as for) those who believe and do good, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow, that is the great achievement.

    Daryabadi

    Verily those who believed and worked righteons works, theirs shall be Gardens whereunder the rivers flow; that is the supreme achievement.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph.

    • ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧﮨ

    Transliteration

    inna batsha rabbika lashadeedun

    Yusuf Ali

    Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord.

    Saheeh International

    Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.

    Shakir

    Surely the might of your Lord is great.

    Daryabadi

    Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    The grip of your Lord is indeed severe—

    • ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬﮭ

    Transliteration

    innahu huwa yubdio wayuAAeedu

    Yusuf Ali

    It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life).

    Saheeh International

    Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.

    Shakir

    Surely He it is Who originates and reproduces,

    Daryabadi

    Verily He! He it is who beginneth and repeateth it.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    it is He who begins and repeats [His creation]—

    • ﮮ ﮯ ﮰﮱ

    Transliteration

    wahuwa alghafooru alwadoodu

    Yusuf Ali

    And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness,

    Saheeh International

    And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,

    Shakir

    And He is the Forgiving, the Loving,

    Daryabadi

    And He is the Fogiving, the Loving,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and He is the Forgiving and Loving One.

    Transliteration

    thoo alAAarshi almajeedi

    Yusuf Ali

    Lord of the Throne of Glory,

    Saheeh International

    Honorable Owner of the Throne,

    Shakir

    Lord of the Arsh, the Glorious,

    Daryabadi

    Lord of the Throne, the Glorious,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    The Lord of the Glorious Throne,

    • ﯗ ﯘ ﯙﯚ

    Transliteration

    faAAAAalun lima yureedu

    Yusuf Ali

    Doer (without let) of all that He intends.

    Saheeh International

    Effecter of what He intends.

    Shakir

    The great doer of what He will.

    Daryabadi

    Doer of whatsoever He intendeth.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Executor of His own will.

    Transliteration

    hal ataka hadeethu aljunoodi

    Yusuf Ali

    Has the story reached thee, of the forces-

    Saheeh International

    Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -

    Shakir

    Has not there come to you the story of the hosts,

    Daryabadi

    Hath there come Unto thee the story of the hosts-

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Have you not heard the story of the hosts

    Transliteration

    firAAawna wathamooda

    Yusuf Ali

    Of Pharaoh and the Thamud?

    Saheeh International

    [Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud?

    Shakir

    Of Firon and Samood?

    Daryabadi

    Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud?

    Wahiduddin Khan

    of Pharaoh and Thamud?

    • ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧﯨ

    Transliteration

    bali allatheena kafaroo fee taktheebin

    Yusuf Ali

    And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)!

    Saheeh International

    But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,

    Shakir

    Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth.

    Daryabadi

    But those who disbelieve are engaged in denial.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Yet those who deny the truth persist in denial.

    • ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬﯭ

    Transliteration

    waallahu min waraihim muheetun

    Yusuf Ali

    But Allah doth encompass them from behind!

    Saheeh International

    While Allah encompasses them from behind.

    Shakir

    And Allah encompasses them on every side.

    Daryabadi

    Whereas Allah is, from behind them, Encompassing.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    God encompasses them from all sides.

    Transliteration

    bal huwa quranun majeedun

    Yusuf Ali

    Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an,

    Saheeh International

    But this is an honored Qur'an

    Shakir

    Nay! it is a glorious Quran,

    Daryabadi

    Aye! it is a Recitation glorious,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    It is indeed a glorious Quran,

    In a guarded tablet.

    Inscribed in a tablet preserved.
