    Transliteration

    waylun lilmutaffifeena

    Yusuf Ali

    Woe to those that deal in fraud,-

    Saheeh International

    Woe to those who give less [than due],

    Shakir

    Woe to the defrauders,

    Daryabadi

    Woe Unto the scrimpers:

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Woe to those who give short measure,

    • ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞﯟ

    Transliteration

    allatheena itha iktaloo AAala alnnasi yastawfoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure,

    Saheeh International

    Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

    Shakir

    Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully,

    Daryabadi

    Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    who demand of other people full measure for themselves,

    • ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤﯥ

    Transliteration

    waitha kaloohum aw wazanoohum yukhsiroona

    Yusuf Ali

    But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.

    Saheeh International

    But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

    Shakir

    But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient.

    Daryabadi

    And who, when they measure Unto them or weigh for them, diminish.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less.

    Transliteration

    ala yathunnu olaika annahum mabAAoothoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Do they not think that they will be called to account?-

    Saheeh International

    Do they not think that they will be resurrected

    Shakir

    Do not these think that they shall be raised again

    Daryabadi

    Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up?

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Do such people not realize that they will be raised up,

    Transliteration

    liyawmin AAatheemin

    Yusuf Ali

    On a Mighty Day,

    Saheeh International

    For a tremendous Day -

    Shakir

    For a mighty day,

    Daryabadi

    On a mighty Day.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    on a fateful Day.

    • ﯯ ﯰ ﯱ ﯲ ﯳﯴ

    Transliteration

    yawma yaqoomu alnnasu lirabbi alAAalameena

    Yusuf Ali

    A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?

    Saheeh International

    The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

    Shakir

    The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds?

    Daryabadi

    A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds?

    Wahiduddin Khan

    The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe?

    • ﭑ ﭒ ﭓ ﭔ ﭕ ﭖﭗ

    Transliteration

    kalla inna kitaba alfujjari lafee sijjeenin

    Yusuf Ali

    Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin.

    Saheeh International

    No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

    Shakir

    Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin.

    Daryabadi

    By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin—

    • ﭘ ﭙ ﭚ ﭛﭜ

    Transliteration

    wama adraka ma sijjeenun

    Yusuf Ali

    And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?

    Saheeh International

    And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

    Shakir

    And what will make you know what the Sijjin is?

    Daryabadi

    And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is?

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is?—

    Transliteration

    kitabun marqoomun

    Yusuf Ali

    (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed.

    Saheeh International

    It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed.

    Shakir

    It is a written book.

    Daryabadi

    A record of misdeeds written.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    it is a written record.

    • ﭠ ﭡ ﭢﭣ

    Transliteration

    waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena

    Yusuf Ali

    Woe, that Day, to those that deny-

    Saheeh International

    Woe, that Day, to the deniers,

    Shakir

    Woe on that day to the rejecters,

    Daryabadi

    Woe on that Day unto the belviers-

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Woe, on that Day, to those who reject,

    • ﭤ ﭥ ﭦ ﭧﭨ

    Transliteration

    allatheena yukaththiboona biyawmi alddeeni

    Yusuf Ali

    Those that deny the Day of Judgment.

    Saheeh International

    Who deny the Day of Recompense.

    Shakir

    Who give the lie to the day of judgment.

    Daryabadi

    Those who belie the Day of Requital.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    those who deny the Day of Judgement.

    • ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯﭰ

    Transliteration

    wama yukaththibu bihi illa kullu muAAtadin atheemin

    Yusuf Ali

    And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner!

    Saheeh International

    And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.

    Shakir

    And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one

    Daryabadi

    And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    No one denies it except for the evil aggressor.

    • ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷﭸ

    Transliteration

    itha tutla AAalayhi ayatuna qala asateeru alawwaleena

    Yusuf Ali

    When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!"

    Saheeh International

    When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

    Shakir

    When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore.

    Daryabadi

    And when Our revelations are rehearsed Unto him, she saith:'fables of the ancients!

    Wahiduddin Khan

    When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, ‘Fables of the ancients!’

    • ﭹﭺ ﭻﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂﮃ

    Transliteration

    kalla bal rana AAala quloobihim ma kanoo yaksiboona

    Yusuf Ali

    By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do!

    Saheeh International

    No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

    Shakir

    Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts.

    Daryabadi

    By no means!' Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts.

    • ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈ ﮉﮊ

    Transliteration

    kalla innahum AAan rabbihim yawmaithin lamahjooboona

    Yusuf Ali

    Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled.

    Saheeh International

    No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.

    Shakir

    Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord.

    Daryabadi

    By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut Out.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord,

    • ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎﮏ

    Transliteration

    thumma innahum lasaloo aljaheemi

    Yusuf Ali

    Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell.

    Saheeh International

    Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.

    Shakir

    Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire.

    Daryabadi

    Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    then they shall enter the Fire of Hell,

    • ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖﮗ

    Transliteration

    thumma yuqalu hatha allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona

    Yusuf Ali

    Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false!

    Saheeh International

    Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."

    Shakir

    Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to.

    Daryabadi

    Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.'

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and they will be told, ‘This is what you were wont to belie.’

    • ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝﮞ

    Transliteration

    kalla inna kitaba alabrari lafee AAilliyyeena

    Yusuf Ali

    Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin.

    Saheeh International

    No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun.

    Shakir

    Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin.

    Daryabadi

    By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the ‘Illiyyin—

    • ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢﮣ

    Transliteration

    wama adraka ma AAilliyyoona

    Yusuf Ali

    And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is?

    Saheeh International

    And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun?

    Shakir

    And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is?

    Daryabadi

    And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is?

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and what will make you understand what the ‘Illiyyin is?—

    Transliteration

    kitabun marqoomun

    Yusuf Ali

    (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed,

    It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed

    Shakir

    It is a written book,

    Daryabadi

    A record of good deeds written.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    a written record,

    • ﮧ ﮨﮩ

    Transliteration

    yashhaduhu almuqarraboona

    Yusuf Ali

    To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah).

    Saheeh International

    Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah].

    Shakir

    Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it.

    Daryabadi

    To which bear witness those brought nigh.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    which those angels closest to God will bear witness to.

    • ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﮭﮮ

    Transliteration

    inna alabrara lafee naAAeemin

    Yusuf Ali

    Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss:

    Saheeh International

    Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure

    Shakir

    Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss,

    Daryabadi

    Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    The virtuous will surely be in bliss,

    • ﮯ ﮰ ﮱﯓ

    Transliteration

    AAala alaraiki yanthuroona

    Yusuf Ali

    On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things):

    Saheeh International

    On adorned couches, observing.

    Shakir

    On thrones, they shall gaze;

    Daryabadi

    Reclining on couches, looking on.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    seated on couches and gazing around in wonder.

    • ﯔ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘﯙ

    Transliteration

    taAArifu fee wujoohihim nadrata alnnaAAeemi

    Yusuf Ali

    Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss.

    Saheeh International

    You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.

    Shakir

    You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss.

    Daryabadi

    Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss.

    • ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝﯞ

    Transliteration

    yusqawna min raheeqin makhtoomin

    Yusuf Ali

    Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed:

    Saheeh International

    They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed.

    Shakir

    They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others).

    Daryabadi

    They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed,

    • ﯟ ﯠﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥﯦ

    Transliteration

    khitamuhu miskun wafee thalika falyatanafasi almutanafisoona

    Yusuf Ali

    The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations:

    Saheeh International

    The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.

    Shakir

    The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire.

    Daryabadi

    The seal thereof will be of musk and to this end let the aspirers aspire -

    Wahiduddin Khan

    its seal will be of musk—for this let the aspirants aspire—

    • ﯧ ﯨ ﯩﯪ

    Transliteration

    wamizajuhu min tasneemin

    Yusuf Ali

    With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim:

    Saheeh International

    And its mixture is of Tasneem,

    Shakir

    And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim,

    Daryabadi

    And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim:

    Wahiduddin Khan

    a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim,

    • ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮﯯ

    Transliteration

    AAaynan yashrabu biha almuqarraboona

    Yusuf Ali

    A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah.

    Saheeh International

    A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink.

    Shakir

    A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah).

    Daryabadi

    A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink.

    • ﯰ ﯱ ﯲ ﯳ ﯴ ﯵ ﯶ ﯷﯸ

    Transliteration

    inna allatheena ajramoo kanoo mina allatheena amanoo yadhakoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed,

    Saheeh International

    Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

    Shakir

    Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe.

    Daryabadi

    Veriiy those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    The wicked used to laugh at the believers—

    • ﯹ ﯺ ﯻ ﯼﯽ

    Transliteration

    waitha marroo bihim yataghamazoona

    Yusuf Ali

    And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery);

    Saheeh International

    And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

    Shakir

    And when they passed by them, they winked at one another.

    Daryabadi

    And, when they passed them, to wink at each other,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    when they passed by them, they would wink at one another;

    • ﯾ ﯿ ﰀ ﰁ ﰂ ﰃﰄ

    Transliteration

    waitha inqalaboo ila ahlihimu inqalaboo fakiheena

    Yusuf Ali

    And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;

    Saheeh International

    And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.

    Shakir

    And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting.

    Daryabadi

    And when they returned to their household they returned jesting.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly;

    • ﰅ ﰆ ﰇ ﰈ ﰉ ﰊﰋ

    Transliteration

    waitha raawhum qaloo inna haolai ladalloona

    Yusuf Ali

    And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!"

    Saheeh International

    And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

    Shakir

    And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error;

    Daryabadi

    And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], ‘These men have surely gone astray,’

    • ﰌ ﰍ ﰎ ﰏﰐ

    Transliteration

    wama orsiloo AAalayhim hafitheena

    Yusuf Ali

    But they had not been sent as keepers over them!

    Saheeh International

    But they had not been sent as guardians over them.

    Shakir

    And they were not sent to be keepers over them.

    Daryabadi

    Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    though they were not sent to be their keepers—

    • ﰑ ﰒ ﰓ ﰔ ﰕ ﰖﰗ

    Transliteration

    faalyawma allatheena amanoo mina alkuffari yadhakoona

    Yusuf Ali

    But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers:

    Saheeh International

    So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

    Shakir

    So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers;

    Daryabadi

    Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth

    • ﭑ ﭒ ﭓﭔ

    Transliteration

    AAala alaraiki yanthuroona

    Yusuf Ali

    On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things).

    Saheeh International

    On adorned couches, observing.

    Shakir

    On thrones, they will look.

    Daryabadi

    Reclining on couches, looking on.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    as they sit on couches, gazing around.

    • ﭕ ﭖ ﭗ ﭘ ﭙ ﭚﭛ

    Transliteration

    hal thuwwiba alkuffaru ma kanoo yafAAaloona

    Yusuf Ali

    Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did?

    Saheeh International

    Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?

    Shakir

    Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did.

    Daryabadi

    The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds?
