    Transliteration

    tanzeelun mina alrrahmani alrraheemi

    Yusuf Ali

    A Revelation from (Allah), Most Gracious, Most Merciful;-

    Saheeh International

    [This is] a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful -

    Shakir

    A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah:

    Daryabadi

    This is a revelation from the Compassionate, the Merciful -

    Wahiduddin Khan

    A revelation from [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful—

    • ﭘ ﭙ ﭚ ﭛ ﭜ ﭝ ﭞﭟ

    Transliteration

    kitabun fussilat ayatuhu quranan AAarabiyyan liqawmin yaAAlamoona

    Yusuf Ali

    A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;-

    Saheeh International

    A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know,

    Shakir

    A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know:

    A Book whereof the verses are detailed: an Arabic Qur'an: for a people who know:

    Wahiduddin Khan

    a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge,

    Transliteration

    basheeran wanatheeran faaAArada aktharuhum fahum la yasmaAAoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not.

    Saheeh International

    As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear.

    Shakir

    A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not.

    Daryabadi

    A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    proclaiming good news and a warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not listen.

    • ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸﭹ

    Transliteration

    waqaloo quloobuna fee akinnatin mimma tadAAoona ilayhi wafee athanina waqrun wamin baynina wabaynika hijabun faiAAmal innana AAamiloona

    Yusuf Ali

    They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears in a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)"

    Saheeh International

    And they say, "Our hearts are within coverings from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a partition, so work; indeed, we are working."

    Shakir

    And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working.

    Daryabadi

    And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereUnto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are Workers.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    And they say, ‘Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we.’

    • ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇﮈ ﮉ ﮊﮋ

    Transliteration

    qul innama ana basharun mithlukum yooha ilayya annama ilahukum ilahun wahidun faistaqeemoo ilayhi waistaghfiroohu wawaylun lilmushrikeena

    Yusuf Ali

    Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,-

    Saheeh International

    Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah -

    Shakir

    Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah, therefore follow the right way to Him and ask His forgiveness; and woe to the polytheists;

    Daryabadi

    Say thou: I am only a human being like Unto you: only it is revealed Unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path Unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be Unto the associators.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Say, ‘I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness.’ Woe to those who associate others with Him,

    • ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓﮔ

    Transliteration

    allatheena la yutoona alzzakata wahum bialakhirati hum kafiroona

    Yusuf Ali

    Those who practise not regular Charity, and who even deny the Hereafter.

    Saheeh International

    Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers.

    Shakir

    (To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter.

    Daryabadi

    Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter.

    • ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝﮞ

    Transliteration

    inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum ajrun ghayru mamnoonin

    Yusuf Ali

    For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail.

    Saheeh International

    Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted.

    Shakir

    (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off.

    Daryabadi

    Verily those who believe and work righteous works - Unto them shall be a hire unceasing.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    ‘The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them.’

    • ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮﮯ

    Transliteration

    qul ainnakum latakfuroona biallathee khalaqa alarda fee yawmayni watajAAaloona lahu andadan thalika rabbu alAAalameena

    Yusuf Ali

    Say: Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? And do ye join equals with Him? He is the Lord of (all) the Worlds.

    Saheeh International

    Say, "Do you indeed disbelieve in He who created the earth in two days and attribute to Him equals? That is the Lord of the worlds."

    Shakir

    Say: What! do you indeed disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two periods, and do you set up equals with Him? That is the Lord of the Worlds.

    Daryabadi

    Say thou: are ye indeed those who disbelieve in Him who hath created the earth in two days, and set up Unto Him peers? That is the Lord of the worlds.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Say, ‘What! Do you indeed deny Him who created the earth in two Days [periods] and do you set up equals with Him? He is the Lord of the Universe.’

    • ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟﯠ

    Transliteration

    wajaAAala feeha rawasiya min fawqiha wabaraka feeha waqaddara feeha aqwataha fee arbaAAati ayyamin sawaan lilssaileena

    Yusuf Ali

    He set on the (earth), mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measure therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four Days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (Sustenance).

    Saheeh International

    And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance in four days without distinction - for [the information] of those who ask.

    Shakir

    And He made in it mountains above its surface, and He blessed therein and made therein its foods, in four periods: alike for the seekers.

    Daryabadi

    And He placed therein mountains firmly rooted rising above it, and blessed it, and ordained therein the sustenance thereof, all this in four days: comglete: this for the inquirers.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    He placed firm mountains on the earth, and blessed it. He measured out its means of sustenance all in four Days; this is for those who ask for it.

    • ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ ﯯ ﯰﯱ

    Transliteration

    thumma istawa ila alssamai wahiya dukhanun faqala laha walilardi itiya tawAAan aw karhan qalata atayna taiAAeena

    Yusuf Ali

    Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke: He said to it and to the earth: "Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly." They said: "We do come (together), in willing obedience."

    Saheeh International

    Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, "Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion." They said, "We have come willingly."

    Shakir

    Then He directed Himself to the heaven and it is a vapor, so He said to it and to the earth: Come both, willingly or unwillingly. They both said: We come willingly.

    Daryabadi

    Thereafter turned He to the heaven and it was as smoke, and said Unto it and Unto the earth: come ye twain, willingly or loth. They said: we come willingly.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Then He turned to heaven when it was vapour and said to it and to the earth, ‘Come willingly or unwillingly.’ They both said, ‘We come willingly,’

    • ﭑ ﭒ ﭓ ﭔ ﭕ ﭖ ﭗ ﭘ ﭙ ﭚﭛ ﭜ ﭝ ﭞ ﭟ ﭠﭡ ﭢ ﭣ ﭤ ﭥﭦ

    Transliteration

    faqadahunna sabAAa samawatin fee yawmayni waawha fee kulli samain amraha wazayyanna alssamaa alddunya bimasabeeha wahifthan thalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleemi

    Yusuf Ali

    So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days, and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.

    Saheeh International

    And He completed them as seven heavens within two days and inspired in each heaven its command. And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and as protection. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

    Shakir

    So He ordained them seven heavens in two periods, and revealed in every heaven its affair; and We adorned the lower heaven with brilliant stars and (made it) to guard; that is the decree of the Mighty, the Knowing.

    Daryabadi

    Then He decreed them as seven heavens in two days, and revealed Unto each heaven the command thereof; and We bedecked the nether heaven with lamps and placed therein a guard. That is the ordinance of the Mighty, the Knower.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and in two Days He formed seven heavens, and revealed to each heaven its functions; and We adorned the lower heaven with brilliant lamps [stars] and guarded it. That is the decree of the Almighty, the All Knowing.

    • ﭧ ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯﭰ

    Transliteration

    fain aAAradoo fuqul anthartukum saAAiqatan mithla saAAiqati AAadin wathamooda

    Yusuf Ali

    But if they turn away, say thou: "I have warned you of a stunning Punishment (as of thunder and lightning) like that which (overtook) the 'Ad and the Thamud!"

    Saheeh International

    But if they turn away, then say, "I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt [that struck] 'Aad and Thamud.

    Shakir

    But if they turn aside, then say: I have warned you of a scourge like the scourge of Ad and Samood.

    Daryabadi

    Then if they Still turn away, say thou; I warn you of a calamity like the calamity of the 'Aad and Thamud.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    If they turn away, then say, ‘I warn you of a lightning-bolt like the one which struck the ‘Ad and the Thamud:

    • ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈﮉ

    Transliteration

    ith jaathumu alrrusulu min bayni aydeehim wamin khalfihim alla taAAbudoo illa allaha qaloo law shaa rabbuna laanzala malaikatan fainna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona

    Yusuf Ali

    Behold, the messengers came to them, from before them and behind them, (preaching): "Serve none but Allah." They said, "If our Lord had so pleased, He would certainly have sent down angels (to preach). Now we reject your mission (altogether)."

    Saheeh International

    [That occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Worship not except Allah." They said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers."

    Shakir

    When their apostles came to them from before them and from behind them, saying, Serve nothing but Allah, they said: If our Lord had pleased He would certainly have sent down angels, so we are surely unbelievers in that with which you are sent.

    Daryabadi

    Recall what time the apostles came Unto them from before them and behind them, saying: worship none save Allah. They said: had our Lord listed, He surely would have sent down angels, so verily in that wherewith ye have been sent we are disbelievers altogether.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    when the messengers came to them from before them and behind them, saying, “Worship none but God!” They said, “If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down angels [to us]. Therefore, we shall never believe in your message.”’

    • ﮊ ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤﮥ

    Transliteration

    faamma AAadun faistakbaroo fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi waqaloo man ashaddu minna quwwatan awalam yaraw anna allaha allathee khalaqahum huwa ashaddu minhum quwwatan wakanoo biayatina yajhadoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Now the 'Ad behaved arrogantly through the land, against (all) truth and reason, and said: "Who is superior to us in strength?" What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs!

    Saheeh International

    As for 'Aad, they were arrogant upon the earth without right and said, "Who is greater than us in strength?" Did they not consider that Allah who created them was greater than them in strength? But they were rejecting Our signs.

    Shakir

    Then as to Ad, they were unjustly proud in the land, and they said: Who is mightier in strength than we? Did they not see that Allah Who created them was mightier than they in strength, and they denied Our communications?

    Daryabadi

    As for the tribe of 'Aad - they grew stiff-necked on the earth without justification, and said: who is mightier than we in strength? Saw they not that Allah who created them,-He was Mightier than they in strength? And Our signs they were wont to gainsay.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    As for the tribe of ‘Ad, they behaved arrogantly in the land without any justification and said, ‘Who is mightier than we in power?’ Did they not see that God, who created them, was mightier than they in power? Still they continued to deny Our signs,

    • ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓﯔ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ﯛﯜ

    Transliteration

    faarsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee ayyamin nahisatin linutheeqahum AAathaba alkhizyi fee alhayati alddunya walaAAathabu alakhirati akhza wahum la yunsaroona

    Yusuf Ali

    So We sent against them a furious Wind through days of disaster, that We might give them a taste of a Penalty of humiliation in this life; but the Penalty of a Hereafter will be more humiliating still: and they will find no help.

    Saheeh International

    So We sent upon them a screaming wind during days of misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.

    Shakir

    So We sent on them a furious wind in unlucky days, that We may make them taste the chastisement of abasement in this world's life; and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is much more abasing, and they shall not be helped.

    Daryabadi

    Wherefore We sent upon them a raging wind in days inauspicious, that We might make them taste the torment of humiliation in the life of the world; and surely the torment of the Hereafter will be more humiliating, nor will they be succoured.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    so We let loose upon them a raging wind over several inauspicious days, so that We might make them taste the torment of humiliation in the life of this world, and surely the torment of the Hereafter will be more humiliating. They shall have none to help them.

    • ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪﯫ

    Transliteration

    waamma thamoodu fahadaynahum faistahabboo alAAama AAala alhuda faakhathathum saAAiqatu alAAathabi alhooni bima kanoo yaksiboona

    Yusuf Ali

    As to the Thamud, We gave them Guidance, but they preferred blindness (of heart) to Guidance: so the stunning Punishment of humiliation seized them, because of what they had earned.

    Saheeh International

    And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.

    Shakir

    And as to Samood, We showed them the right way, but they chose error above guidance, so there overtook them the scourge of an abasing chastisement for what they earned.

    Daryabadi

    And as for the tribe of the Thamud We guided them but they preferred blindness to the guidance, wherefore the bolt of the torment of abjection laid hold of them because of that which they had been earning.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    As for the Thamud We offered them Our guidance, but they preferred blindness to guidance. So the lightning-bolt of the punishment of humiliation seized them on account of their misdeeds.

    • ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ ﯯ ﯰﯱ

    Transliteration

    wanajjayna allatheena amanoo wakanoo yattaqoona

    Yusuf Ali

    But We delivered those who believed and practised righteousness.

    Saheeh International

    And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah.

    Shakir

    And We delivered those who believed and guarded (against evil).

    Daryabadi

    And We delivered those who believed and had been fearing.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    We saved those who had attained to faith and were God-fearing.

    • ﯲ ﯳ ﯴ ﯵ ﯶ ﯷ ﯸ ﯹﯺ

    Transliteration

    wayawma yuhsharu aAAdao allahi ila alnnari fahum yoozaAAoona

    Yusuf Ali

    On the Day that the enemies of Allah will be gathered together to the Fire, they will be marched in ranks.

    Saheeh International

    And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when the enemies of Allah will be gathered to the Fire while they are [driven] assembled in rows,

    Shakir

    And on the day that the enemies of Allah shall be brought together to the fire, then they shall be formed into groups.

    Daryabadi

    And warn them of the Day whereon the enemies of Allah will be gathered Unto the Fire; and they will be set in bands.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    On the Day that the enemies of God shall be gathered together and driven to the Fire, they shall be formed into groups, and

    • ﯻ ﯼ ﯽ ﯾ ﯿ ﰀ ﰁ ﰂ ﰃ ﰄ ﰅ ﰆﰇ

    Transliteration

    hatta itha ma jaooha shahida AAalayhim samAAuhum waabsaruhum wajulooduhum bima kanoo yaAAmaloona

    Yusuf Ali

    At length, when they reach the (Fire), their hearing, their sight, and their skins will bear witness against them, as to (all) their deeds.

    Saheeh International

    Until, when they reach it, their hearing and their eyes and their skins will testify against them of what they used to do.

    Shakir

    Until when they come to it, their ears and their eyes and their skins shall bear witness against them as to what they did.

    Daryabadi

    Until when they come to it, their ears and their sights and their skins will bear witness against them of that which they had been working.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    when they come close to it, their ears, eyes and skins will testify against them for their misdeeds.
