If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility. |

If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled. |

If We please, We should send down upon them a sign from the heaven so that their necks should stoop to it. |

If We list, We can send down unto them a sign from the heaven so that their necks would became to it submissive. |

But if We had so willed, We could have sent down to them a sign from the heavens so that their heads would be bowed down before it in utter humility. |

wama yateehim min thikrin mina alrrahmani muhdathin illa kanoo AAanhu muAArideena |

But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom. |

And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it. |

And there does not come to them a new reminder from the Beneficent Allah but they turn aside from it. |

And there cometh not unto them any fresh admonition from the Compassionate but they are wont to be there from backsliders. |

Whenever there comes to them any fresh warning from the Merciful, they always turn their backs on it: |

They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at! |

For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule. |

So they have indeed rejected (the truth), therefore the news of that which they mock shall soon come to them. |

So they have surely belied; wherefore anon there shall come unto them the truth of that whereat they were wont to mock. |

they have indeed rejected the message. But the truth of what they laughed to scorn will dawn upon them before long. |

And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron. |

And by breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); |

And my breast straiteneth, and my tongue moveth not quickly: so send for Harun. |

"And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." |

And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." |

Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). |

[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. |

He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; |

He said: by no means. so go ye twain with Our signs; verily We shall be with you listening. |

Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: |

(Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? |

[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? |

(Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life? |

Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? |

Pharaoh said to Moses, ‘Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. |

"And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" |

And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." |

And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. |

And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst; and thou art of the ingrates. |

Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates.’ |

Moses replied, ‘I did that when I was one of the misguided, |

"So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. |

So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. |

So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; |

Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. |

"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" |

And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" |

And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? |

And that favour wherewith thou didst oblige me was that thou hadst enslaved the Children of Isra'il? |

And this is the favour with which you taunt me—that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?’ |

(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." |

[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." |

He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. |

He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. |

Moses said, ‘Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced.’ |

He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. |

Moses went on, ‘He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.’ |

(Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" |

[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." |

Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. |

Fir'awn said: verily your apostle who hath been sent unto you is mad. |

Pharaoh said, ‘This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!’ |

qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi wama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloona |

(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" |

[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason." |

He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. |

He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. |

Moses said, ‘He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand.’ |

(Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" |

[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." |

Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned. |

Fir'awn said: if thou wilt take a god other than me, I shall surely place thee among the prisoners. |

Pharaoh said, ‘If you take any deity other than myself, I will throw you into prison,’ |

and Moses asked, ‘Even if I show you a clear sign?’ |

Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth- tellers. |

Pharaoh said, ‘Show it then, if you are telling the truth!’ |

So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! |

So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. |

So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, |

Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. |

So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. |

And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! |

And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. |

And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. |

[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician. |

(Firon) said to the chiefs around him: Most surely this is a skillful magician, |

Fir'awn said unto the chiefs around him: verily this is a magician knowing. |

Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him, ‘Surely this man is a skilful sorcerer. |

"His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?" |

He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?" |

Who desires to turn you out of your land with his magic; what is it then that you advise? |

He would drive you out of your land through his magic; what then is it ye command? |

Who wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery. Now what do you advise?’ |

They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers |

They said: Give him and his brother respite and send heralds into the cities |

They said: put off him and his brother, and send unto the cities callers. |
