    Transliteration

    qad aflaha almuminoona

    Yusuf Ali

    The believers must (eventually) win through,-

    Saheeh International

    Certainly will the believers have succeeded:

    Shakir

    Successful indeed are the believers,

    Daryabadi

    Blissful are the believers'-

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Successful indeed are the believers;

    • ﭕ ﭖ ﭗ ﭘ ﭙﭚ

    Transliteration

    allatheena hum fee salatihim khashiAAoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Those who humble themselves in their prayers;

    Saheeh International

    They who are during their prayer humbly submissive

    Shakir

    Who are humble in their prayers,

    Daryabadi

    Those who in their prayer are lowly.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    those who are humble in their prayer;

    • ﭛ ﭜ ﭝ ﭞ ﭟﭠ

    Transliteration

    waallatheena hum AAani allaghwi muAAridoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Who avoid vain talk;

    Saheeh International

    And they who turn away from ill speech

    Shakir

    And who keep aloof from what is vain,

    Daryabadi

    And those who from everything vain turn away.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    those who turn away from all that is frivolous;

    • ﭡ ﭢ ﭣ ﭤﭥ

    Transliteration

    waallatheena hum lilzzakati faAAiloona

    Yusuf Ali

    Who are active in deeds of charity;

    Saheeh International

    And they who are observant of zakah

    Shakir

    And who are givers of poor-rate,

    Daryabadi

    And those who for the sake of purification are doers.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    those who pay the zakat;

    • ﭦ ﭧ ﭨ ﭩﭪ

    Transliteration

    waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Who abstain from sex,

    Saheeh International

    And they who guard their private parts

    Shakir

    And who guard their private parts,

    Daryabadi

    And those who of their private Parts are guards.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    those who safeguard their chastity

    • ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ﭴﭵ

    Transliteration

    illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeena

    Yusuf Ali

    Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame,

    Saheeh International

    Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed -

    Shakir

    Except before their mates or those whom their right hands possess, for they surely are not blameable,

    Daryabadi

    Save in regard to their spouses and those whom their right hands own: so they are not blameworthy-

    Wahiduddin Khan

    except with their wives, and what their right hands possess—for then they are free from blame,

    • ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼﭽ

    Transliteration

    famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoona

    Yusuf Ali

    But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;-

    Saheeh International

    But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors -

    Shakir

    But whoever seeks to go beyond that, these are they that exceed the limits;

    Daryabadi

    And Whosoever seeketh beyond that, then it is these who are the transgressors

    Wahiduddin Khan

    but those who seek to go beyond that are transgressors—

    • ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂﮃ

    Transliteration

    waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants;

    Saheeh International

    And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive

    Shakir

    And those who are keepers of their trusts and their covenant,

    Daryabadi

    And those who of their trusts and covenant are keepers.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    those who are faithful to their trusts and promises;

    • ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈﮉ

    Transliteration

    waallatheena hum AAala salawatihim yuhafithoona

    Yusuf Ali

    And who (strictly) guard their prayers;-

    Saheeh International

    And they who carefully maintain their prayers -

    Shakir

    And those who keep a guard on their prayers;

    Daryabadi

    And those who of their prayers are observant.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and those who attend to their prayers;

    • ﮊ ﮋ ﮌﮍ

    Transliteration

    olaika humu alwarithoona

    Yusuf Ali

    These will be the heirs,

    Saheeh International

    Those are the inheritors

    Shakir

    These are they who are the heirs,

    Daryabadi

    These! they are the inheritors.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    these are the heirs of Paradise

    • ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓﮔ

    Transliteration

    allatheena yarithoona alfirdawsa hum feeha khalidoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever).

    Saheeh International

    Who will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally.

    Shakir

    Who shall inherit the Paradise; they shall abide therein.

    Daryabadi

    Who shall inherit Paradise; therein they shall be abiders.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    they shall abide in it forever.

    • ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛﮜ

    Transliteration

    walaqad khalaqna alinsana min sulalatin min teenin

    Yusuf Ali

    Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay);

    Saheeh International

    And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay.

    Shakir

    And certainly We created man of an extract of clay,

    Daryabadi

    And assuredly We created man of an extract of clay.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    We created man from an essence of clay,

    • ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢﮣ

    Transliteration

    thumma jaAAalnahu nutfatan fee qararin makeenin

    Yusuf Ali

    Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed;

    Saheeh International

    Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging.

    Shakir

    Then We made him a small seed in a firm resting-place,

    Daryabadi

    Thereafter We made him of a Sperm In a receptacle safe.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    then We placed him as a drop of fluid in a safe place,

    • ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ﯕﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚﯛ

    Transliteration

    thumma khalaqna alnnutfata AAalaqatan fakhalaqna alAAalaqata mudghatan fakhalaqna almudghata AAithaman fakasawna alAAithama lahman thumma anshanahu khalqan akhara fatabaraka allahu ahsanu alkhaliqeena

    Yusuf Ali

    Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create!

    Saheeh International

    Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.

    Shakir

    Then We made the seed a clot, then We made the clot a lump of flesh, then We made (in) the lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, then We caused it to grow into another creation, so blessed be Allah, the best of the creators.

    Daryabadi

    -Thereafter We created the sperm a clot; then We created the clot a lump of flesh; then We created the lump of flesh bones; then We clothed the bones with flesh: thereafter We brought him forth as anot her creature. Blest then be Allah, the Best of creators!

    Wahiduddin Khan

    then We developed that drop into a clinging form, and We developed that form into a lump of flesh, and We developed that lump into bones, and clothed the bones with flesh. Then We brought him into being as a new creation—glory be to God, the best of creators—

    • ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠﯡ

    Transliteration

    thumma innakum baAAda thalika lamayyitoona

    Yusuf Ali

    After that, at length ye will die

    Saheeh International

    Then indeed, after that you are to die.

    Shakir

    Then after that you will most surely die.

    Daryabadi

    Then verily, thereafter, ye are sure to die.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    after this you shall surely die.

    • ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦﯧ

    Transliteration

    thumma innakum yawma alqiyamati tubAAathoona

    Yusuf Ali

    Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up.

    Saheeh International

    Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.

    Shakir

    Then surely on the day of resurrection you shall be raised.

    Daryabadi

    Then verily on the Day of Judgment ye shall be raised up.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day.

    • ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ ﯯ ﯰ ﯱﯲ

    Transliteration

    walaqad khalaqna fawqakum sabAAa taraiqa wama kunna AAani alkhalqi ghafileena

    Yusuf Ali

    And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation.

    Saheeh International

    And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware.

    Shakir

    And certainly We made above you seven heavens; and never are We heedless of creation.

    Daryabadi

    And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    We have created seven paths above you; We have never been unmindful of Our creation.

    • ﭑ ﭒ ﭓ ﭔ ﭕ ﭖ ﭗ ﭘﭙ ﭚ ﭛ ﭜ ﭝ ﭞﭟ

    Transliteration

    waanzalna mina alssamai maan biqadarin faaskannahu fee alardi wainna AAala thahabin bihi laqadiroona

    Yusuf Ali

    And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease).

    Saheeh International

    And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away.

    Shakir

    And We send down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We cause it to settle in the earth, and most surely We are able to carry it away.

    Daryabadi

    And We sent down from the heaven water in measure, and We caused it to settle in the earth; and verily to take it away We are Able.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    We sent down water from the sky in due measure and lodged it in the earth—but if We please, We have the power to take it away—

    • ﭠ ﭡ ﭢ ﭣ ﭤ ﭥ ﭦ ﭧ ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬﭭ

    Transliteration

    faanshana lakum bihi jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin lakum feeha fawakihu katheeratun waminha takuloona

    Yusuf Ali

    With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),-

    Saheeh International

    And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat.

    Shakir

    Then We cause to grow thereby gardens of palm trees and grapes for you; you have in them many fruits and from them do you eat;

    Daryabadi

    Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date- palm and vines; for you therein are fruits many, and thereof ye eat.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    We have produced palm-groves and vineyards for you, in which there are abundant fruits for you; and you eat these,

    • ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶﭷ

    Transliteration

    washajaratan takhruju min toori saynaa tanbutu bialdduhni wasibghin lilakileena

    Yusuf Ali

    Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food.

    Saheeh International

    And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat.

    Shakir

    And a tree that grows out of Mount Sinai which produces oil and a condiment for those who eat.

    Daryabadi

    And also a tree that springeth forth from mount Sinai, that groweth oil and is a sauce for the eaters.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    also a tree growing on Mount Sinai which produces oil and a condiment for those who eat it.

    • ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇﮈ

    Transliteration

    wainna lakum fee alanAAami laAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butooniha walakum feeha manafiAAu katheeratun waminha takuloona

    Yusuf Ali

    And in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: from within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them, (besides), numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat;

    Saheeh International

    And indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat.

    Shakir

    And most surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We make you to drink of what is in their bellies, and you have in them many advantages and of them you eat,

    Daryabadi

    And verily in the cattle for you is a lesson. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are advantages many, and of them ye eat.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    You have a lesson in livestock. We provide you with drink from what is in their bellies, and you have many other benefits from them; some of them you eat,

    • ﮉ ﮊ ﮋ ﮌﮍ

    Transliteration

    waAAalayha waAAala alfulki tuhmaloona

    Yusuf Ali

    And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride.

    Saheeh International

    And upon them and on ships you are carried.

    Shakir

    And on them and on the ships you are borne.

    Daryabadi

    And on them and on the ship ye are borne.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    and you ride on them as you do in ships.

    • ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛﮜ ﮝ ﮞﮟ

    Transliteration

    walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona

    Yusuf Ali

    (Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?"

    Saheeh International

    And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"

    Shakir

    And certainly We sent Nuh to his people, and he said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; will you not then guard (against evil)?

    Daryabadi

    And assuredly We sent Nuh unto his people, and he said: O my people! worship Allah; for you there is no god but he; will ye not then fear Him!

    Wahiduddin Khan

    We sent Noah to his people, and he said, ‘My people, worship God; you have no other deity except Him. Will you not fear Him?’

    • ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚﯛ

    Transliteration

    faqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaa allahu laanzala malaikatan ma samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleena

    Yusuf Ali

    The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old."

    Saheeh International

    But the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if Allah had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers.

    Shakir

    And the chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves who desires that he may have superiority over you, and if Allah had pleased, He could certainly have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our fathers of yore:

    Daryabadi

    Then said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people: this is no other than a human being like unto you, he seeketh to make himself superior unto; and if God had willed, He would save sent down angels; we have not heard of this among our fathers ancient.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    The leaders of his people who denied the truth, said, ‘He is only a human being like yourselves who wants to make himself superior to you. If God had wished, He would have sent down angels. We never heard about this from our forefathers.

    • ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥﯦ

    Transliteration

    in huwa illa rajulun bihi jinnatun fatarabbasoo bihi hatta heenin

    Yusuf Ali

    (And some said): "He is only a man possessed: wait (and have patience) with him for a time."

    Saheeh International

    He is not but a man possessed with madness, so wait concerning him for a time."

    Shakir

    He is only a madman, so bear with him for a time.

    Daryabadi

    He is only a man in whom is madness wherefore await for him for a season.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    He is only a madman, so, as far as he is concerned wait for a while.’

    • ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫﯬ

    Transliteration

    qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni

    Yusuf Ali

    (Noah) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood!"

    Saheeh International

    [Noah] said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."

    Shakir

    He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar.

    Daryabadi

    Nuh said: my Lord! vindicate me, for they belie me.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    Noah said, ‘My Lord, help me! for they have rejected me,’

    • ﯭ ﯮ ﯯ ﯰ ﯱ ﯲ ﯳ ﯴ ﯵ ﯶ ﯷ ﯸﯹ ﯺ ﯻ ﯼ ﯽ ﯾ ﯿ ﰀ ﰁ ﰂ ﰃ ﰄ ﰅ ﰆﰇ ﰈ ﰉ ﰊ ﰋ ﰌﰍ ﰎ ﰏﰐ

    Transliteration

    faawhayna ilayhi ani isnaAAi alfulka biaAAyunina wawahyina faitha jaa amruna wafara alttannooru faosluk feeha min kullin zawjayni ithnayni waahlaka illa man sabaqa AAalayhi alqawlu minhum wala tukhatibnee fee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoona

    Yusuf Ali

    So We inspired him (with this message): "Construct the Ark within Our sight and under Our guidance: then when comes Our Command, and the fountains of the earth gush forth, take thou on board pairs of every species, male and female, and thy family- except those of them against whom the Word has already gone forth: And address Me not in favour of the wrong-doers; for they shall be drowned (in the Flood).

    Saheeh International

    So We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation, and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows, put into the ship from each [creature] two mates and your family, except those for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned.

    Shakir

    So We revealed to him, saying: Make the ark before Our eyes and (according to) Our revelation; and when Our command is given and the valley overflows, take into it of every kind a pair, two, and your followers, except those among them against whom the word has gone forth, and do not speak to Me in respect of those who are unjust; surely they shall be drowned.

    Daryabadi

    Then We revealed unto him, saying: build the ark under Our eyes and Our Revelation; then when Our command cometh and the oven boileth over, make way therein of every pair two, and thy household save him thereof against whom there hath already gone forth the word; and address me not in respect of those who have done wrong; verily they are to be drowned.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    then We revealed Our will to him: ‘Build the Ark under Our watchful eye according to Our instructions. When Our command comes, and waters gush up out of the earth, take on board pairs of every species and members of your household, except for any of them on whom sentence has already been passed—do not plead with Me for those who have done wrong: they shall be drowned.
