    By (the Token of) Time (through the ages),

    By time,

    Shakir

    I swear by the time,

    Daryabadi

    By the time,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    I swear by the passage of time,

    Transliteration

    inna alinsana lafee khusrin

    Yusuf Ali

    Verily Man is in loss,

    Saheeh International

    Indeed, mankind is in loss,

    Shakir

    Most surely man is in loss,

    Daryabadi

    Verily man is in loss,

    Wahiduddin Khan

    that man is surely in a state of loss,

    Transliteration

    illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati watawasaw bialhaqqi watawasaw bialssabri

    Yusuf Ali

    Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.

    Saheeh International

    Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

    Shakir

    Except those who believe and do good, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patience.

    Daryabadi

    But not those who themselves believe and work righteous works, and enjoin upon each other the truth, and enjoin upon each other endurance.

    Wahiduddin Khan

    except for those who believe and do good deeds and exhort one another to hold fast to the Truth, and who exhort one another to stead-fastness.
